Manchester United are on the verge of wrapping up the signings of goalkeeper Karl Darlow and midfielder Andrey Santos , Meanwhile, Ederson is undergoing an extensive medical examination before finalising his own transfer from Atalanta .

Darlow is poised to arrive on a free transfer following his departure from Leeds United when his contract expired last month. The 35-year-old will serve as backup to Senne Lammens, with three goalkeepers leaving Old Trafford this summer.

He was presented with fresh terms at Elland Road having made 22 Premier League appearances for the club last season. However, he is now anticipated to travel across the Pennines and link up with United instead.

Andre Onana has already rejoined Trabzonspor on loan, while Altay Bayindir is expected to seal a permanent return to Turkey . Radek Vitek will likewise leave to secure regular first-team action and United could profit from the 22-year-old following his impressive loan stint at Bristol City .

A £50million agreement was struck with Chelsea earlier this week for Santos, 22, and he has been undergoing medical examinations. The Brazilian midfielder is set to finalise his switch to the club on a five-year contract imminently.

While Darlow and Santos could complete their transfers as soon as Friday, there is also an update regarding Ederson, with United opting to carry out a more thorough medical evaluation of the midfielder. Preliminary tests were conducted during the World Cup , but following Brazil's elimination, the 27-year-old has made his way to Manchester to finalise his transfer.

Despite speculation that the deal could fall through, it remains firmly on course as he prepares to undergo the concluding stage of his medical.

United have already struck a £35million agreement with Atalanta to secure Ederson's signature, with an additional £3.8million in add-ons. Personal terms on a four-year contract with a one-year option have also been settled.

United's players returned to Carrington to begin their pre-season preparations on Thursday. The Red Devils play Wrexham in their first friendly on Saturday, July 18th in Helsinki, Finland.
