Manchester United’s hierarchy have so far indicated that they are not going to spend recklessly in the transfer market.

However, after losing Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes to their top six Premier League rivals, INEOS find themselves in a tricky spot, and it might take a statement signing to move the needle as far as fan sentiment is concerned.

Interestingly, a report suggests the Red Devils are willing to do just that, but their target is an attacker rather than a midfielder.

The 25-year-old, who scored 22 goals and registered 14 assists across all competitions last season, is thought to be demanding a salary similar to, or higher than, Kylian Mbappe. However, the La Liga giants have no desire to meet such demands.

Furthermore, Real president Florentino Perez does not want to lose the Brazilian superstar for free, and as such, an option of a sale this summer is being considered.

It has been widely reported that United want to strengthen their left flank this summer, and the idea of the Premier League giants signing one of Europe’s most high-profile left wingers is certainly thrilling.

However, the club’s priority remains overhauling their midfield, and they are unlikely to have a budget for a record-breaking addition higher up the field.
