Ruben Amorim sends message to Man Utd fans during AC Milan unveiling
Ruben Amorim admits he made ‘mistakes’ at Manchester United (AC Milan)

Ruben Amorim
has acknowledged that he made ‘mistakes’ at
Manchester United
and has issued an apology to the club’s supporters in his first press conference as
AC Milan
’s head coach.
Amorim was sacked by United in January
after 14 months in charge at
Old Trafford
.
The Portuguese was understood to have been unhappy with United’s hierarchy after they privately raised questions over his 3-4-3 system
, and the club subsequently decided to part ways as they had not seen enough signs of evolution or progress during the 41-year-old’s stint as manager.
Michael Carrick
was appointed as Amorim’s successor the following week and he was able to guide United to a third-placed finish in the
Premier League
, which secured the club’s return to the
Champions League

Amorim, meanwhile, has been appointed as AC Milan’s new head coach and the club will be playing in the
Europa League
next season after finishing fifth in Serie A last term.
Speaking at his official unveiling to the Italian media on Wednesday, Amorim was asked about his time at Old Trafford and the Portuguese said he was ‘sorry’ for not sending a message to United fans sooner.

When asked what he would take from his time at United into his new role at AC Milan, Amorim replied: ‘The first thing is it’s hard to explain the mistakes because for that I would have to explain the context of the last adventure.
‘It’s hard to say to you every mistake. The only thing I can say is that I learned a lot and I made some mistakes.
‘I didn’t have the opportunity, and I’m sorry for that, I didn’t have the opportunity to say something to the Manchester United fans at the moment and I’m really proud to be their coach for a year in that time.
‘But now it’s a different history. There are a lot of things that I could do better in the last experience but sometimes it’s like that, you need to learn to find the right spot to reach a different level and that’s my thinking here.
‘Everyone learns from their experience. I learned a lot, I did some mistakes I will try to change, there are some thing you will never change but I think I will be a better manager, that’s all.’
