FA confirm security scare after man enters England World Cup media centre with wrench

media centre where a man walked in carrying a wrench.

’s side have reached the quarter-finals of the competition

after beating Mexico in a thriller at the Azteca Stadium

in the early hours of Monday morning.

The squad are now preparing for Saturday’s World Cup quarter-final against Norway and will fly out from the Midwest to Miami on the eve of the game which is scheduled to kick off at 10pm BST on Saturday night.

England trained on Thursday lunchtime at Swope Soccer Village, which is located around half a mile from their media centre, hosted in a community building.

That training session meant no members of the England player or coaching staff were on the scene when a man, who appeared in distress, entered the media centre carrying a wrench on Thursday.

The individual was ushered out of the room and dealt with by local police, with the FA now set to review the incident.

England hope to return to their Kansas City facilities next week ahead of a World Cup semi-final against Argentina or Switzerland.

The Three Lions will be without defender

Jarell Quansah

for Saturday’s game and the semi-final if they reach that stage after

FIFA confirmed he will serve a two-match ban

as a result of the red card he picked up in the win over Mexico.

Tuchel could also be without

Marc Guehi

with the

Manchester City

defender carrying a hamstring issue.

Sickness also threatens to affect the manager’s plans

with

Declan Rice

missing two days of training this week as a result of the bug.

The Arsenal midfielder has been carrying a lower back and hamstring issue all tournament and is in a race to be fit for Saturday’s game.

Bukayo Saka meanwhile says he is ‘ready to go’ as he continues to manage an Achilles problem which is disrupting his World Cup.

Saka has been nursing the injury he picked up in March which has limited game time so far.

He started against Panama and Mexico, coming off the bench in the other games, but has yet to play 90 minutes.

‘I think across the tournament, my minutes have been building. I’m building,’ he said.
