Portugal have appointed Jorge Jesus as their new national team coach, following a disappointing performance at the

World Cup

that saw the side exit in the round-of-16.

The 71-year-old, a veteran of Portuguese football, takes the helm after the federation parted ways with Roberto Martinez.

Jesus brings extensive experience, having managed several prominent Portuguese clubs including Benfica and Sporting Lisbon. His most recent role was with Saudi Arabian club
