Manchester United returned to pre-season yesterday after approximately six weeks off following the end of the 2025/2026 season.
The Red Devils stuttered at the start of last season, but after the sacking of Ruben Amorim, their season took off.
Michael Carrick
replaced the
Portuguese
coach in January, and United responded with much more consistent results.
They rose to third in the table and qualified for this season’s edition of the Champions League.
United have had numerous players involved in the World Cup over the last month, but with the quarter-finals beginning, more and more are returning to the squad.
Noussair Mazraoui
is the latest player to be knocked out after Morocco were defeated 2-0 by France.
Nonetheless, players involved at the World Cup will return gradually over the month, depending on when their nation departed the tournament.
The Manchester Evening News
reported, “Harry Amass and Shea Lacey are among the
Manchester United
youngsters to report for pre-season training at Carrington.”
Academy stars Tyler Fredericson and Jack Fletcher have also returned to training ahead of United’s first pre-season game in just eight days, against Wrexham in Helsinki, Finland.
Toby Collyer, who spent last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion and Hull City, was also being put through his paces.
The paper added, “there was a sprinkling of first-team stars present. Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Mason Mount were all present having missed out on England selection for the World Cup, as was Ayden Heaven.”
First-team players Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee were also back after they were left out of their respective nations’ World Cup squads.
