Arsenal agree personal terms with £70m star as club confirm first summer signing

Bruno Guimaraes has agreed a five-year deal with Arsenal having told Newcastle United he wishes to complete a summer move to north London.
The Brazil international has emerged as Mikel Arteta ’s top midfield target as the Gunners boss seeks to make further improvements to the team that ended its 22-year wait for a Premier League title last season.
ESPN Brasil report Arsenal are prepared to make a bid of £65million for the former Lyon star with Newcastle demanding at least £70m before they do any business.
A new bid is expected and with Guimaraes eager to make the move happen , L’Equipe report the 28-year-old has agreed personal terms with the champions.

His former side Lyon are also set to profit from the deal thanks to a 20 per cent sell-on clause included in the deal that took him to Tyneside in January 2022 for £40million.
His arrival will be the first major piece of business at the Emirates but work is already underway strengthening the squad for next season.
Arsenal have already triggered their option to sign Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen on a permanent deal.

The club have also today confirmed signing of goalkeeper Illan Meslier ona free transfer, who becomes the first new face through the door.
The former Leeds United shot stopper could serve as David Raya ’s chief understudy with Kepa Arrizabalaga considering his options.
