Thomas Tuchel receives major Reece James boost as England star returns to training ahead of World Cup quarter-final against Norway

England

defender

Reece James

has returned to training and could feature against Norway in Saturday’s World Cup quarter-final.

The 26-year-old has missed the last three matches with a hamstring issue and was not present when the squad trained in

Kansas

City on Wednesday.

However, we understand James did take part in Thursday’s session and is likely to be included in the squad for the game in Miami.

That will be dependent on the

Chelsea

right back suffering no adverse reaction in the team’s final workout, but his progress is good news for

Thomas Tuchel

England have lost right back Jarell Quansah to a two-game suspension after his red card against Mexico, while Tino Livramento was sent home before the tournament began with a calf injury.

Djed Spence

had looked likely to come in for the last-eight tie after recovering from a slight knock that kept him out of the starting XI in Mexico. James’ condition will now be monitored.

Meanwhile, Declan Rice is expected to be fine for Norway as he continues to manage hamstring and back pain. Defender Marc Guehi is also managing some muscle fatigue.
