– The No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa keyed the Washington Wizards’
92-88
win with a game-high 27 points, 19 of which came in a big first half. It came over in a clash between the No. 2 overall selection Darryn Peterson and the Utah Jazz in the
2026 NBA Summer League
at the Thomas and Mack Center.
The head-to-head matchup of the top two picks naturally grabbed the headlines, but it was Dybantsa who stole most of the spotlight in the first two quarters with a hot hand that helped Washington establish a 54-37 lead by intermission. However, Utah turned the tables in the second half, shaving nine points from its deficit in the third quarter and then getting as close as one point with 1:22 remaining. However, Will Riley scored the final six points for the Wizards as they ran away with the win.
Dybantsa complemented his aforementioned game-high point tally with seven rebounds, two steals and one block. Last year’s
No. 6 overall pick
, Tre Johnson, followed with 26 points, while Riley furnished 18 of his own.

Peterson led the Jazz with 24 points and provided three assists and a block. Cody Williams supplied 16 points, five rebounds, four steals and one block. Trey Alexander led the second unit with 13 points, adding five rebounds, while Orlando Robinson totaled 10 points, six rebounds and one block.
The two teams are now off until Sunday, when the Jazz face off with the Clippers (
