Man Utd set for boost to receive further financial help after clearing the wage bill

are back on course for a cash injection that may help fund moves for further transfers.

According to the Manchester Evening News, when

Man United

sold

Mason Greenwood

to Marseille on a permanent transfer in 2024, they retained a substantial 40 per cent sell-on clause in the £26million deal.

Last month, Fenerbahce presidential candidate Hakan Safi declared that the Turkish club would sign the 24-year-old, should he become club president.

“We have signed a four-year agreement with

,” Safi said. He has proven himself at the highest level of European football.

“He has agreed to join Fenerbahce during the most valuable and productive years of his career.

"I said I would bring a star player. Today, I am experiencing the justified pride of keeping my promise.”

However, Aziz Yildirim was re-elected in June 2026, returning to the club's helm after an eight-year absence, thus placing a deal for Greenwood in doubt.

That said, Fabrizio Romano claims the deal is back on with Greenwood’s camp informing Fenerbahce they have accepted a contract offer until 2030.

If the latest developments are to be believed, then

Man Utd

are poised to bank around £13m with Fenerbahce offering Marseille around €40m (£34.1m) for Greenwood.
