ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) — A few-time earth street racing champion Peter Sagan of Slovakia produced an outstanding start to the 2018 cycling season Sunday when he won the People’s Decision Traditional, a prelude to the 1st Planet Tour occasion of the season, the Tour Down Below.
Sagan conquer star sprinters Andre Greipel of Germany and Caleb Ewan of Australia in a bunch sprint to earn the 50.6 kilometer (31.4 mile) race above 22 laps of a road course in central Adelaide.
The earn suggests Sagan will dress in the tour leader’s ocher jersey in the 1st stage of the 6 stage Tour Down Below on Tuesday. Sunday’s race does not count towards normal classification.
Ewan won the race in each of the past two years and Greipel is the only a few-time winner. The 132-robust field that lined up for the race Sunday provided 7 previous winners.
